Dungeons & Dragons Fun With a Side of Tie-Dyed Cookies
Happy accidents are not mistakes.
Hello, Substack friends to what I hope will be a happy go luck week ahead.
I’ve had an uptick of rabbits visiting my home this summer. This rabbit guard makes my backyard safe and full of the cuteness (especially when the baby bunnies come out to play)
I’m a big fan of Kickstarter (maybe I should admit I have a bad addiction instead). If you’re a tarot card reader or just love collecting tarot cards, you have to check out this Wisdom of Pooh & Tigger Too deck. TOO CUTE!
“The Wisdom of Pooh & Tigger Too! is a 78 card tarot deck based on the Rider Waite Smith (RWS) system. Kat L. Amsel is bringing our vision to life once again with her amazing talents. The artwork is a culmination of both old and new illustrations based on E.H. Shepard's classic work done for A. A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh in the 1920's. If you are a lover of all things Pooh and Tigger, you're going to want to add this deck to your library or collection.”
For those who love the theater, and happen to be in or near Manhattan, do check out Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty- Sided Tavern. Fans of Dungeon & Dragons will love this show, as well as those who have no clue what D&D is. It’s improve and audience participation at it’s finest. Also, the ticket prices for a show in NYC isn’t that bad when compared to Broadway shows. I went this weekend and had a blast (so much funny in two and a half hours). Great for the whole family! As an extra perk, my party was able to move to closer seats near the stage. Maybe the same will happen for you if you go?
“Dungeons & Dragons The Twenty-Sided Tavern is an interactive adventure live on stage for you and 500 of your newest friends. Control the quest as you journey through an ever-changing campaign set in the heart of the Forgotten Realms. Find a new home at the Tavern, where laughter flows like ale and your new best companion is right beside you. Solve puzzles, explore hidden secrets, and conquer in action – this is the adventure you’ve been waiting for!”
Have you heard of the Duck Stamp? From Goodgoodgood:
“The Duck Stamp plays a vital role in wildlife conservation in the U.S. and has since 1934. Over the course of 90 years of sales, the stamp has raised more than $1.2 billion to conserve over 6 million acres of wetlands habitat on national wildlife refuges nationwide.
It’s also grounds for a beloved art tradition: The Federal Duck Stamp Contest and Junior Duck Stamp Contest. These friendly competitions invite artists young and old to contribute their duck-themed artworks for consideration to go on the final stamp.”
Tie-Dyed cookies sounds like a fun cookie to eat. From The Bakermama:

I Need You by Jon Batiste makes me want to get down and boogie. After watching the music video you may want to also.
This week’s book recommendation is from 2017- The Last Move by Mary Burton
Catching monsters helps FBI agent Kate Hayden keep her nightmares at bay. Now an urgent call brings her back to San Antonio, the scene of her violent past. A brutal new murder shows hallmarks of a serial killer nicknamed the Samaritan. Tricky part is, Kate already caught him.
Either Kate made a deadly error, or she’s got a copycat on her hands. Paired with homicide detective Theo Mazur, she quickly realizes this murder is more twisted than it first appeared. Then a second body is found, the mode of death identical to a different case that Kate thought she’d put behind her.
Now Kate and Detective Mazur aren’t just working a homicide; the investigative pair is facing a formidable enemy who knows Kate intimately. While Mazur is personally trying to protect Kate, the closer they are drawn to the killer, the clearer it becomes that in this terrifying game, there is only one rule: don’t believe everything you see…
Why I’m recommending this book- The Last Move has so many excellent twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. I'm in awe of Mary's writing and plots she uses to give the reader a thrilling journey that isn't just about the crime, but the people involved responsible for solving it. There is an undercurrent of romance here, but it's more in the background because of the intensity of the crime and the main characters who put themselves on the line to save lives and speak for the dead. Kate and Theo make a great team, and the outcome of their professional relationship that morphs into a personal one is very satisfying.
Any happy accidents that may happen to you this week aren’t mistakes…
