Hello, friends to the start of June as we slowly inch toward Summer.
Summer to me means the beach. How I wish I was back in Roatán, where the ocean is such a lovely shade of blue.
I had a big accomplishment today. For the first time ever, I ran a 10K (6 miles)- The Montclair, NJ 41st annual Run For a Cause. I finished in under 80 minutes. If you haven’t run a marathon, especially small ones that are under 6 miles, you should. These mini-marathons are a lot of fun and you experience a great sense of community and comradery. Most support great causes and you always end up with a nice T-shirt and other swag showing your support. Hurrah for marathons that support great causes!
As you may know if you’re a visitor to my substack, I love bananas. Did you know bananas are a great post running snack, especially after running a marathon (And yes, I ate a banana after running the 10K). Because I love everything bananas, The Bakermama has a great recipe for two-ingredient banana chocolate chip ice cream. All you need are these ingredients:
6 very ripe bananas
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
For fans of video games, who like more of a relaxing type of game, I recommend Little Kitty Big City from Nintendo. A game for the entire family as you “way home or will you explore what the big city has to offer first? I mean, getting home is obviously your main priority. Obviously. Well, it's one of your priorities. Maybe more of a guideline... It's definitely on your To-Do list somewhere! But first? Exploration!”
You end up stealing food from people, knocking over jars and chat with other animals around the city as you try to find your way home. Whimsical adventure is the perfect description here.
Speaking of cats, my favorite internet cat sensation, Maru is 17 years old! Awww Maru, still fitting in boxes after all this time. I really do adore this cat.
I’m a bit giddy because guess what band’s new album I bought, and as a physical CD? I can’t remember the last time I bought a CD. I’m a hardcore NKOTB fan, have been sine 1988. Their new album, Still Kids (it’s been 11 years since they released an album of new music) is so good. Still Kids is the best album of their career. The Deluxe CD edition has stories behind the songs, and pictures of the five guys who make up NKOTB. I’ve been listening non-stop to the album since I got it. Every NKOTB fan must have this album. “Better Days” (Jon is the lead, and his voice is so soulful) and “Stay” are my two favorite songs.
NKOTB can still hit the charts after 35 years- Billboard reports- “New Kids On the Block's first full-length studio album in over a decade, Still Kids, debuts at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart (dated June 1). The set also arrives at No. 9 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 12 on the Vinyl Albums tally.”
This week’s book recommendation is mine. I have a new book release today- actually two books in one! A Bid For Love and Island Pleasures are novellas that were originally published under my former digital publisher Decadent Publishing. I’m re-releasing them both together for .99 cents. These two stories are a bit on the sexy and risqué side… heh heh.
A BID FOR LOVE (May-December Contemporary Gay Romance)

When his friend Raul urges Anthony to try the matching services he’s used in the past to great result, Anthony refuses because of his crush on Reece. But Raul has something up his sleeve to make certain Anthony and Reece finally get together.
A charity auction sets the stage and rolls into motion a night Anthony and Reece will never forget.
ISLAND PLEASURES (Contemporary Romance with a twist- One woman and two men)

She’ll infiltrate the luxury Grand Turk Malabann resort where many of the guests there have used Eternal Affection. But she’s in for an even bigger shock when she comes in contact with a man from her past, Quinn Alfasi, who she shared one passionate night with back in college.
Quinn never thought he’d see Carly again, and now six years later she’s walked back into his life. He’ll do whatever he has to in order to expose her as a liar and a fraud. Try and plant your own positive message to yourself this week….
