Ted Lasso Happy News and Strawberry Goodness
Imaging riding a bus everyday with adorable dogs?
Welcome, back Substack friends to a new week where the end of summer is almost near, and everything fall is upon us.
Pretty in pink? I prefer pretty in purple.
I was a huge fan of Ted Lasso. If you believe, anything is possible, and if you believe Ted Lasso might continue, you’ll be happy to know a new season of Ted Lasso has been greenlit. The most wholesome, uplifting show of this decade so far is most likely coming back for a season 4! Deadline reports (along with every other social media and website dedicated to Hollywood):
“In a major step toward the long-awaited fourth season of Apple TV+’s hugely popular soccer comedy, the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television has picked up the options on the three original cast members who had been contracted under the aegis of the UK acting union Equity, sources tell Deadline. They are Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, who plays hardman Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift, who plays Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins.
After securing the trio, the studio is expected to start reaching out to Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired, so they will need to make new deals, we hear. In addition to co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), that is believed to include Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).”
This story gives me all the feels: From Good News Network: “A determined Lab has found a new home in Georgia after galloping alongside a doggie daycare bus until he won over the driver and found a new home.”
Coming to a house he knew well, a Labrador retriever who had been attending Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming for three years named Motley was waiting for the bus like normal, but this time he had a friend.
Tyson Cash, the owner of Keller Creek, contacted Motley’s owners to ask who the new arrival was, but to his double surprise, the owners said they had not adopted any new dogs.
They added, however, that a stray Lab had been in the area for a few days and neighbors were feeding and occasionally letting it stay on their property. Keller Creek is a reputable doggie daycare center, and Cash couldn’t take the risk of letting a stray onboard. So after loading Motley, he closed the door.
Steeling himself, he drove off, but the yellow Lab gave chase. Heart aching, Cash asked his wife to take a video and photo of the dog alongside the bus to post on social media to see if anyone in the area knew who his owners were.
A crazy dog dad through and through, Cash was pondering if there were any way he could find room in his house—filled with 9 other pooches as things stood—for this dog desperate for company. But fate, fortune, and a friendly soul stayed Cash’s hand.
Also onboard the pup bus was Nellie, another yellow Lab, whose owner saw the Facebook post and felt even worse than Cash did.
“To see a dog so desperate to catch a ride was very heartbreaking,” she told the Washington Post. “I thought, I’ve got to reach out and see if anybody has a home for this dog. If not, I want him.”

Raise you hand if you like strawberries. If you do then you’ll be happy to know strawberries help your heart. From Eurek Alert:
“New study shows strawberries may lower cardiovascular disease risk and improve glucose control.”
“A diet low in fruit is among the top three risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes,” said co-author Britt Burton-Freeman, Ph.D., professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology. “Adding as little as one cup of strawberries a day to your diet may show beneficial effects on your cardiovascular health.”
As one of the most popular and accessible fruits in the U.S., strawberries are a flavor-favorite with consumers. A serving of 8 strawberries (one cup) fulfills the daily recommended value of vitamin C and delivers a host of other nutrients and beneficial bioactive compounds. Available year-round, strawberries offer consumers a versatile and convenient fruit option loved by kids and adults.”
For more strawberry fun, why not try this Glazed Strawberry Bread recipe found at Sally’s Baking Recipe: “This glazed strawberry bread tastes like summer in a loaf pan! It’s tender, moist, and chock-full of juicy berries. The cake-like crumb and creamy, dreamy vanilla icing make for a treat that’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. The recipe is quick and easy, and there’s no mixer required!”
What song do you feel was THE song of Summer 2024? Mine is A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey. This song is so catchy and makes you want to dance. A great earworm song that may never grow old.
This week’s book recommendation is from 2017- Before I Knew by Jamie Beck.
On the second anniversary of her husband’s suicide, Colby Cabot-Baxter is ready to let go of her grief and the mistakes made during her turbulent marriage. Her fresh start comes in the form of A CertainTea, the restaurant she’s set to open along Lake Sandy, Oregon, with help from her family. But when her executive chef quits just weeks before the grand opening, Colby is pressured to hire old family friend Alec Morgan. His award-winning reputation could generate buzz, but their friendship has withered since her husband’s reckless dare cost Alec’s brother his life.
Distracted by guilty secrets concerning the tragedy that changed his and Colby’s lives, Alec self-destructed and lost his famed restaurant. With his career in tatters, he’s determined to use this opportunity to redeem his reputation and to help the woman he’s loved from afar find happiness again.
But secrets have a way of coming out. When Alec’s do, they might destroy the new life he and Colby have rebuilt together.
Why I’m recommending this book- Before I Knew is a deep novel about secrets, lies and guilt that spans years. Colby and Alec are caught in the middle of their family's drama. It looks like there are many roadblocks against these two getting together. The path to their HEAs is difficult, even when they confront the past in order to have a future together.
Colby and Alec have great chemistry together, and the story will keep you hooked, especially after Alec's father goes past a certain point that in some eyes may be unforgivable
. The consequences of everyone's actions here are spotlighted, and resolved in ways that aren't completely solved, but are satisfying as it leads to Colby and Alec's happiness.
Always face the sunshine, and not the shadow…
